Classification and characteristics of stainless steel gates


The stainless steel gates we are talking about are mainly classified according to the structure of the gate and the structure of the valve stem. Of course, according to the material, they can be divided into stainless steel gates, carbon steel gate valves and so on. Stainless steel gate refers to a valve whose closing member moves along the vertical direction of the center line of the passage, and is mainly used for cutting off in the pipeline. This article introduces the specific characteristics of the two types of gate valve products as follows:


1. According to the structure of the gate, it can be divided into:


1) Parallel stainless steel gate: The sealing surface is parallel to the vertical centerline, that is, a gate valve with two sealing surfaces parallel to each other. In parallel stainless steel gates, the structure with thrust wedge is often common. There are double-sided thrust wedge between the two gates. This kind of gate valve is suitable for low pressure medium and small diameter (DN40-300mm) gate valves. There are also those with a spring between the two gates, the spring can generate pre-tightening force, which is beneficial to the sealing of the gate.


2) Wedge-type stainless steel gate: the sealing surface is at a certain angle to the vertical center line, that is, the two sealing surfaces are wedge-shaped gate valves. The inclination angle of the sealing surface is generally 2°52', 3°30', 5°, 8°, 10°, etc. The size of the angle mainly depends on the temperature of the medium. Generally, the higher the working temperature, the larger the angle should be taken to reduce the possibility of wedging when the temperature changes. Advantages: The accuracy of the angle of the sealing surface is low, the temperature change is not easy to cause the phenomenon of wedging, and the gasket can be added to compensate when the sealing surface is worn. However, there are many structural parts of this kind, which are easy to bond in the viscous medium and affect the sealing. More importantly, the upper and lower baffles are prone to rust after long-term use, and the baffle gates are easy to fall off.


2. According to the structure of the valve stem, it can be divided into:


1) Rising stem stainless steel gate: The stem nut is on the valve cover or bracket. When opening and closing the gate, the stem nut is rotated to achieve the lifting of the valve stem. This structure is beneficial to the lubrication of the valve stem, and the degree of opening and closing is obvious, so it is widely used;


2) Dark stem stainless steel gate: The stem nut is in the valve body and is in direct contact with the medium. When opening and closing the gate, it is realized by rotating the valve stem. The advantage of this structure is that the height of the gate valve always remains the same, so the installation space is small, and it is suitable for gate valves with large diameters or restricted installation space. This structure should be equipped with an opening and closing indicator to indicate the degree of opening and closing. The disadvantage of this structure is that the valve stem thread not only cannot be lubricated, but it is directly corroded by the medium and is easily damaged.
